Welcome to City Dance Theatre
This is a pre-professional dance troupe made up of kids that are ages 7-17. We are a non-profit based in Richmond, Virginia and our home studio is Pine Camp Cultural Arts Center. Experience the magic of movement and storytelling as our young dancers showcase their passion and creativity on stage.
Discover Our History
City Dance Theatre Inc. was created in 1992 by Deidra Davis and was originally recognized as the City Dance Troupe.
Later that same year, Rodney Williams, Director of City Dance Theatre Inc., joined the team and put a focus on the theatrics of dance. Soon after, City Dance Troupe became City Dance Theatre.
City Dance Theatre became a competitive team in 1993 and in that first year received numerous 1st place trophies and regional recognition. Over the years, City Dance Theatre became a name not only known in Virginia but Nationally and Internationally.
In 1994, Talita Jackson joined as a student. She currently serves as the Director of the City Dance Program and Co-Director of the City Dance Theatre.
Many City Dance Theatre Alumni continue their dance journey through college and/or other endeavors, with some even going on to dance professionally.
